Emily Thompson
Violinist
Welcome! I am excited to share my work and resources with you. I am a professional musician and teacher based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I have degrees in violin performance (B.Mus) and early music (M.Mus) from Bowling Green State University and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. I have performed in professional orchestras throughout the Midwest, most recently with the full and core orchestras of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. I have taught with the Indianapolis Academy of Music, in the IU String Academy and Summer String Academy, and in my own private studio and violin group programs for over a decade. I am an active freelance performer on violin and baroque violin.
As a mom of two young children, I have learned to observe and enjoy each stage of growth and development. I am a compassionate and committed teacher of young beginners and continuing students. I also have pride and joy in my adult violin students, and regularly include parent seminars in my studio offerings. Whether you are a parent, prospective student, fellow musician, or a member of the violin-loving public, you can join in the adventure here, on my blog, or on Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube with Emily Thompson, violin.
