Emily Thompson

Welcome! I am excited to share my work and resources with you. I am a professional musician and teacher based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I have degrees in violin performance (B.Mus) and early music (M.Mus) from Bowling Green State University and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. My teachers included Stanley Ritchie, Penny Thompson Kruse, and Vasile Beluska.  I have studied violin pedagogy with mentors Doris Preucil (Preucil School), Christie Felsing (Hartt Suzuki Institute, Preucil School), and Mimi Zweig (IU School of Music, IU String Academy).

I have performed in professional orchestras throughout the Midwest, including the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Terre Haute Symphony, Owensboro Symphony, Mansfield Symphony, and Adrian Symphony.  I am currently performing in the Marion Philharmonic.

I have taught in my private studio for more than a decade. I have also taught at Oak Farm Montessori, and the Indianapolis Suzuki Academy. During my pedagogy studies with Mimi Zweig, I taught as an assistant in the IU String Academy and Summer String Academy. I am an active freelance performer on violin and baroque violin, playing for weddings and events, and collaborating with the Bach Collegium Fort Wayne.

As a mother of two young children, I have learned to observe and enjoy each stage of growth and development. I am a compassionate and committed teacher of students of all ages and abilities.
